Some call it adularescence because of its subtle shimmer that changes in different angles when the stone is moved. Especially Rainbow moonstone has a milky patchy appearance which comes from the white orthoclase inclusions and layers. When the stone catches the light, the reflection off the layers and inclusions produces a rainbow effect, can be seen in subtle hues of blue, white, peach, gray etc. Rainbow Moonstone is often used in silver jewellery.
The moonstone may have inclusions like tiny tension cracks inside it which are known as centipedes.
